There are many reasons for wanting to edit your iTunes library. Whether it be because you’ve begun to notice that there are way too many duplicates that you’ve added to it, or maybe you’ve decided that it’s time to organize each of your songs into a playlist that it belongs to. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the different methods which are available.

Part 1. Using iTunes to Edit iTunes Library

This method will take you through how exactly you can edit your iTunes library using the standard iTunes program.

Step #1 – Start off by downloading the iTunes program and downloading it accordingly. Once you have it downloaded, launch the program

Step #2 – Once launched, on the left panel of iTunes click on the “Songs” option.

Step #3 – After clicking on the “Songs” option, all of the music that you have previously stored in your iTunes library (whether you had bought it or imported it) will be displayed.

Step #4 – Locate the song which you would like to edit, right-click on that song, and click on “Get Info”.

Step #5 – Upon clicking on the “Get Info” option you will be able to edit all of the information that iTunes has in regard to that specific song. If you would like to change the name of the song, the artist, or any of the other details that are stored, you can do so now.

Step #6 – Once you changed the details that you hoped to change, click “Ok” and you are ready to go.

Now, if you’d like to change information about a specific playlist that you listen to, the steps alter from above but are very similar. Simply right-click on the playlist (all of your playlists should be visible on the left panel of iTunes), and a variety of options will appear. You will be able to rename your playlist, add a description to your playlist, or even rearrange your songs in a specific order.

Step #4 – From here you will be able to change any of the information which is stored to go along with those songs, such as the artist, the album that it came from, the genre, and many more details.

Step #5 – After you have gone through each of the details and have decided that everything is perfect, simply click on the “Save” button and you’re ready to go.

You can use this method to go through each of the songs that are in your iTunes playlist and edit iTunes library in order to clean it up.

Now that we’ve taken a look at how you can edit your iTunes library and the different methods that are available for you to do just that, let’s take a look at the iMusic program which we discussed in the second method and some of the other features that come with the program, other than being able to edit your iTunes library.

Know More about iMusic

While in order to use iMusic you have to purchase the program, a free version is available (although the features which are available are limited). A price tag may put you off of the idea, but let’s take a look at some of the features which are available with iMusic that will surely persuade you that it is definitely a program worth getting yourself.

  • Download music from multiple platforms. With iMusic, you are able to download music from platforms, such as YouTube and SoundCloud, and import all of the music that you’ve downloaded over to your iTunes library.
